For 2013, CABA is hosting the CycleCharlotte event, which is always held on the last weekend of Charlotte’s annual Bike! Charlotte series of events. This year the ride will host a similar route with a new format that is fun for the whole family. The ride starts and ends in SouthEnd Charlotte and is an urban safe street BINGO bicycle ride and cycling festival. This ride is a fun ride designed to encourage anyone and everyone who owns a bicycle to “air up” the tires (or come early and let us help) and EXPERIENCE CHARLOTTE WITHOUT A WINDSHIELD. Two options: 16 miles and 7 miles (its shorter than you think)!
Each rider has an opportunity to enjoy a leisurely ride through SouthEnd, Uptown Charlotte, NODA, Plaza Midwood, the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, Myers Park, Dilworth. There will be 11 to 12 stops along the ride where participants will pick up BINGO numbers with an opportunity for scavenger hunt style wild cards that you can snap with a smart phone or digital camera. The stops will include ice cream shops, coffee stops, chocolate stores, and opportunities to smell some roses, pet turtles and feed some birds. It will be a great opportunity to experience Charlotte without a windshield and many unique stops along the route that you might not have known were easily accessible by bicycle.
At the conclusion of the ride, participants who have a winning BINGO card (BINGO!) will be entered into a raffle for great prizes. After the ride, enjoy food and beverages from Icehouse and live music
