Marathon Finally Completed

Dateline, April 17, Charlotte Observer: “ (The mural) tells the story of Trips for Kids, with images of kids riding and repairing bikes. Both are major components of the (nonprofit) agency’s mission, which gets most of its support from donated bikes. Most are repaired at the center and resold, but several dozens are given away each year to at-risk youths after they complete classes on bike safety and repair….” See also the Trips for Kids icon this page for more info and TFK for full slide show.

MORE FROM DC SUMMIT

March 14, 2010

$4 million bike station !

A spectacular gem is an understatement.

The first bike station on the East Coast – the Bike Transit Center (BCT) paid for by the U.S. Department of Transportation and DDOT,  offers secure bike parking, a changing room, lockers, bike rentals, repairs and a small retail shop selling bike accessories. I rented a touring bike there on Monday for a reasonable $35. Friendly staff too.

Located at Union Station with the red line METRO stop on the other side of the big pillar in the photo.

THANK YOU INSIDE/OUT SPORTS
